I want this #clownworld to just let me paint.

Not too long ago I finished this piece of work. I don’t know why, but I keep seeing more and more of this meme called #clownworld. I don’t agree with the undertone that all things are horrible so just laugh, but I do think there are terrible things in this world.

Notre Dame began to burn and I saw people laugh and enjoy it. I saw people put smiles and completely celebrate it. I poked fun on one statue of the cathedral, but laughing at something older than my country burn was not something I was doing.

It makes me wonder how people look at what is going on. Last month Christchurch was attacked and 50 Muslim people were killed. My college sent out notices to everyone that it was horrible and if we needed help, we had it available.

But I have yet to receive anything about the 360 Christian people killed in actual churches all over Sri Lanka.

As Pat Bateman mentioned: we need to worry about Sri Lanka.

Thinking of this “Clown World” I just witnessed.

I didn’t understand what was going on. Something was happening over in France and it wasn’t funny. It was horrible.
But people seemed to be celebrating.

I was seeing people celebrate something that was so horrible. I seen people cry on real life, but online, it was a different story. I really do feel there is something going on where people are happy to see a structure that is almost one thousand years old burn to the ground.
At first, I thought Notre Dame would fall, but thankfully it didn’t. I hope that maybe this kind of celebrating is an online thing rather than a real life thing.
So because of this, I began to draw a clown from the meme “clownword” where everything is upside down, people are laughing when they should be crying, news is never good, things are horrible. So why not laugh.
It’s a horrible idea of a meme, but it inspired me. I will eventually post my final drawing on all my social media.
